Yay Cathryn! You've done so good! I totally know how you feel about the closet full of clothing thing... I have like no clothes left, but it seems wasteful to buy new ones... My exercising has not been so great. I had really good intentions I swear. But, Saturday we were gone all day, Sunday, um, I failed for some reason I forget now, Monday I went on a long walk with both girls (yay!) Tuesday I was unbelievably exhausted, Wednesday I was babysitting, and today I am once again unbelievably exhausted. This two kids thing is kicking my butt. At this point, I'm barely functioning. Lily has stopped napping during the day for longer than like 15 minutes the past few days. Obviously this isn't okay and I'm working on it, but it means no nap for me. She's up until 10:30 or 11 each night, Savannah usually either wakes up crying once or climbs in bed with us and kicks me non stop as she sleeps until I wake up fully and carry her back to bed, and then Lily is awake between 6 or 7. If she wakes up at 6, she falls back asleep by 7 and I try to sleep until Corey leaves at 8. I know that doesn't sound terrible, but apparently I need enormous amounts of sleep, especially when I'm ebf.
I'm thinking full on work outs might not happen a whole lot, but I'm going to try for more walks. And, walks involve me pushing a lot of weight (stroller=27 lbs, Savannah=28 lbs, carseat=9 lbs, Lily=9 lbs) for a grand total of 83 pounds! Once Lily gets a little bigger we can ditch her carseat, but still, hills are quite a workout with that thing.
My eating is not so good. I'm exhausted and drinking Dr. Pepper to stay awake which is bad plus it's easier to eat junk when I'm tired, but I'm trying to make an effort to eat healthier. Well, besides the fact I'm making a cheesecake on Saturday.

Short-term goal
So I found this cool website that measures your running route. This is the one I want to work up to:
Right now I can do about 2/3 of it, jogging about 2/3 of the time (reeeeeally slowly). I want to work up to being able to go the whole route, and then be able to jog the whole route, and then get faster at jogging it. I'd like to get down to a 10 minute mile (that's supposedly a pretty average pace for a 5K, I guess). Right now I'm at about a 16 minute mile I think, because I can't really run, only jog really, really slowly. It's basically walking with my knees moving more I think, haha.
So, let's see. My goal is to exercise every weekday morning (with holidays off--which for me includes next Monday, Columbus Day, because Scott doesn't have work! Yay!), and I feel like I'm improving quickly. So, some short-term goals:
1. "Wog" the whole route (walk/jog--just get it done, as slowly as needed) by this Friday (10/5)
2. Jog the whole route without stopping for a walk break by next Friday (10/12)
3. Jog the whole route in 15 minutes by Halloween
I think those are tough but doable goals. Scott thinks we can do a 5K together on Thanksgiving. Did you know that's a thing? People call it a "turkey trot"--I guess a lot of people want to run a 5K/10K before they gorge themselves on Thanksgiving dinner. Crazies. Oh, wait...

Exercised again today.
I still can't run the whole time (two days in, of course not), but I did go for a walk-jog this morning and did yoga afterward. I am SO SORE. I doubt I even went a whole mile round-trip (anyone know where I can get a cheap pedometer?), but I feel like I've been hit by a bus. Ugh. At least I don't have to get up super early this week, because Scott's going in to work late for some training thing. Next week I have to pay the piper. 5:45, here I come... :-(

I totally jogged this morning!
I totally did! No lie! For like 16 whole minutes! Well, more like wogged...but I jogged for at least half of it, pinky swear. And then I did like 15 minutes of a yoga video. So that means that I TOTALLY WORKED OUT. That is all.
If I ever had to run for my life, I would probably die.
Soooooo...I don't think I've ever run a whole mile in my life. Seriously. I hate running (well, and exercise in general, if we're being honest here). Like hate with a fiery, burning passion. And you guys know me, so you know that I'm not exactly what you'd call a morning person. (More like a "wants to kill everything that moves with the death stare in the morning" kind of person.)
BUT. It's been a year and a half, and not only can I not lose the baby weight, I've started putting more back on. It's the second or third time that's happened since Luke was born. It's like I can lose a little weight veeeeerrrrry slowly, but then all of a sudden I'll have a particularly gluttonous weekend or something and I'll have put on another 7 pounds. It's kind of scary to me, because before I got pregnant, my weight had stayed within the same 10-pound range for my entire post-puberty life, no matter what I ate or how much (or how little) I exercised. Getting pregnant seems to have flipped some kind of grown-up switch in my body to where I can't eat like a teenager anymore.
And ok. (We are being honest here, right?) If this were the weight that my body decided was the right weight post-baby and that was just my comfortable size for the rest of my life, I would be totally okay with it. I don't feel like I've got my self-esteem pinned to a dress size or anything. But I'm not physically comfortable where I'm at. I'm more tired than I should be, and I really can feel the weight slowing me down when I put on more pounds like this. I feel sluggish, you know? It's like I've gone from Tigger to Eeyore, while still trying to keep up with Luke. I lose my breath running around the playground (trying to keep him from falling to his death, ha ha). I'm chubby in places where I never have been before, and it's starting to affect how flexible I am. Not to mention the fact that I've got a closet full of clothes that I can't really wear, because they're all a size too small. It makes me a lot more self-conscious and it zaps my confidence in social situations, because the whole time I'm thinking about how chubby I feel (or how my pants digging in at my waist is making me nauseated) instead of thinking about making new friends and being kind to other people and having fun. I can't even find bras that fit anymore, because I'm too big around through the ribs for the size of bra I should be wearing. Not cool.
I'm 25. I'm too young to feel worn-out and flabby. Something's gotta give.
I've been trying half-heartedly to diet the weight off for the better part of a year, but obviously that's not doing enough. So. I can't really get the cardio exercise in that I am going to have to do while Luke is up and about (not yet, anyway...maybe when I'm amazing and really good at exercising I'll figure that out), and I'm too tired by the time he goes to bed to be motivated to work out then. That leaves mornings...EARLY mornings. Le sigh...

Lose the baby weight take 2
Okay, last time I didn't ever really lose the baby weight. Not cool. This time, I'm determined to not let that happen! I just exercised on my Wii Active Game. It was a 30 minute workout and was pretty intense (especially considering I don't remember the last time I worked out. Like, it seriously might have been over a year ago. Yep.) Anyway, my goal is to follow the video game's 30 day workout. Each day it gets harder and harder. And, I'm going to try to get the extra calories my body craves from vegetables instead of cheese. Wish me luck!

Wii
I convinced Ryan that we should have one and so now we do. (Good thing it is a one time purchase or that would have never gone down.) So, now I shall experiment with using the Wii as part of my exercise routine. Suggestions?

Okay, for reals this time
We're finally in our own house. YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!! So, I'm going to start exercising. Seriously. Tomorrow. If the Wii is set up by then. Shoot, maybe I suck...

Katie?
Maybe Katie quit because it had been 8 months since anyone posted anything... :). Good job us. And I'd like to second the complaint of pregnancy changing body shape. I don't weigh a whole lot more than I did pre-pregnancy, but I sure look different. I feel like I gave up my cuteness to Savannah which is probably okay. So, I didn't exercise yesterday because my entire body was SO sore from the day before. Plus, it's hard to be motivated when I get home at like 5:30 and just want to relax. But, I'm going to make myself work again today. As far as exercise ideas go, I don't really have many since I use the Wii, but you could probably Google a ton of ideas. For what it's worth, Wiis are cheaper than ever (like $150 plus $30 for the game I recommend) now because an HD one is coming out soon, but I know that's still a big purchase.
I'm thinking I should purchase a double stroller or something so I can take Savannah and Emry for walks, but getting Savannah to want to sit in a stroller is a struggle to say the least. She just wants to "walk, walk, walk!" but when she does walk she stops all the time so it's enjoyable, but not super exerting...

Too Long, sorry
So, I've adopted a little bit of a new perspective, which really is kind of a duh one, so you guys may already do this, but I'm finding this perspective is very helpful (and simple). I think the first step to being healthy (physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually) is to like yourself and appreciate your body for what it is (an amazing instrument and gift given to us by Heavenly Father so that we can become like him). I've found that it leads to wanting to take care of myself for good reasons, which has been infinitely helpful.
That being said, pregnancy does do a number on your body. Mine is no longer the same size or shape (although the same weight, my post- and pre- baby weight are the same, so I'm not thinking that means much). And like Cathryn, clothes fitting = not so much. Too bad we don't all live in the same neighborhoods or we could be work out and walking buddies and it would be fun.
Exercise = on and off, though our health insurance has been helping. To keep cheap premiums, we have to take 600,000 steps in a year (not that much), but they sent us a booklet with our pedometers and we make sure we take at least 5,000 (considered splitting point between sedentary and low activity) steps a day and try to at least get to 10,000 (splitting point between somewhat active and active). It definitely has given a bit more motivation, not to mention that we're a little competitive and always comparing steps (that may not be the healthiest thing all the time). It works better when we're a team and both do things together to get steps. So, if you're looking for a suggestion, a pedometer may be helpful if you set goals to how many steps you want to take (it's helped me some). There are also conversions for other kinds of exercise, like 10 minutes of moderate exercise (most exercise videos, biking, things that do get your heart rate up but maybe aren't the hardest thing in the world) are equivalent to 1,000 steps and strenuous exercise is 2,000 steps in 10 minutes. It's kind of fun to keep track.
Sorry, I've been very wordy, no idea why. So, that's all great what I said, but what other suggestions do you guys have? I've found that I do the same things and I get a little 'boredom burn-out', if I can call it that. The Wii would be good, but we don't have one (yet, someday, I hope). Things that can be done inside or outside are preferred.
Oh, and now I will set up a goal (all in the same post, sorry)
Exercise: 45 min. 3 times a week + daily walks
Eating: More vegetables and more water and less sugar
Mental: Give myself a break when I don't get EVERYTHING done (who does get everything done anyway, right?)

I exercised!
Yesterday I actually worked out! Thank you Corey for setting up the Wii Fit game for me. Once I get started, I really enjoy it. It's just getting started that I struggle with. But today I am so sore! I did this hula hoop game. Basically you pretend to hula hoop as fast as you can for ten minutes straight. And now my entire core is dying. But, that's probably a good thing. Anyway, I'm just happy that I'm possibly on track for getting in shape finally...

I fixed it!
Hey look, I fixed the blog! And Cathryn, I would reccomend Wii Active. It's a really fun exercise game. I'm going to start doing it again tomorrow. It's been hard to exercise living in West Jordan because I'm too self conscious to exercise in front of other people (other than Corey) but we'll be back in Bountiful tomorrow. And since we're TTC, I really want to lose a little weight before then. Of course, if I'm lucky (?) I'll get horrible morning sickness and lose 10 pounds like I did last time... ;) Is that horrible?
Yikes!
I don't know about you guys, but, um, I had a baby and my body is definitely not the same shape it used to be. This summer is going to be booty boot camp for me! Luke and I are going to walk of the post-baby spare tire & saddlebags this summer OR ELSE. ("Or else" meaning "or else I have to spring for a whole new wardrobe, because almost none of my pre-baby clothes fit anymore.")
Ideas? I'm definitely hoping that once I quit working, I'll have more time to eat healthy (why, hello, vegetables, it's been so long!) and walk all the time. Some crunches here & there would definitely not hurt, either. What are you guys doing this summer?
P.S. Whoever's got the editing permissions on here--we should probably change the picture in the background...

Katie's Update
I'm failing miserably.
As soon as we moved here Naomi got faster in her crawling and started pulling herself up with the help of everything and everyone around her. So, that meant no going to the fitness center.
And the only way to get into the park without a car is to walk down this narrow road completely surrounded by trees with no sidewalks and then go off roading through some woods. Also out of the question. So... exercise has been tough. My new plan is to buy a video once we figure out the budget.
Eating. This also depends on how we set up the budget. It turns out everything here is significantly more expensive than Utah. So I've basically just cut down on portions and snacks. Oh! And I did indeed cut out ice cream! (I just eat the low calorie fudge bars. I count this as an improvement) Also, my tolerance for candy has decreased. It now makes me a little ill. I think pregnancy did this to me. Except with chocolate. So, I need to be careful about that.
Mental health. I read Pride & Prejudice! And I loved it! My next book to read is "Jane Eyre" but I'm sort of holding off because I needed a break from the super proper English.
This is harder than I hoped it'd be.

Allie so far...
So, I've maybe failed a little. See, we moved our mattress into our front room because it's so hot in our room. And so I don't have room to work out... So, besides some long walks, I haven't really. Oops :). But, I' have been eating better I think. I'm doing this thing called Baby Led Weaning. Basically, Savannah eats what we eat. Which means we have to eat healthy... So, we've had more fruits and veggies. And I've drank more water lately, but not enough. I hope that next time I post I won't have to be so ashamed :).

Cathryn so far
Scott and I went for a big, long walk last night, which was really nice because we got to talk for like an hour and a half. It was super muggy though (it's been threatening to rain all week) and I wore flip-flops (oops...blisters), but hey, exercise! Today I decided I'll count sweeping the front steps of the building and weeding and vacuuming 2 floors of the building as my workout. It was definitely hot enough to get me sweating. :P
Other than that, I've been super lazy & not very good about eating well. I think I had an apple yesterday & we had some tomatoes & lettuce on tacos last night, but I've really got to start thinking about (and buying more!) veggies. Doing better on the water, though. I'm getting addicted.

Katie's Goals
Ok. So I'm moving this week so they aren't going to start until I'm all unpacked and settled in Wisconsin.
Exercise: I'll have access to a fitness center and be right by a park so I hope to do some form of exercise every weekday. Whether it be working out in the gym or taking Naomi for long walks in the park. I'll probably start at 20 minutes and try and work my way into longer increments. (I'm so out of shape).
Eating: Ok. You guys know I'm picky. I'll start with eating an apple every day and some other fruit. Probably grapes. And I'll try to eat vegetables. Maybe a green salad with minimal dressing? Even that would be an improvement. Or maybe I'll get one of those juice drinks that have vegetable servings but taste like fruit. :) Any suggestions on vegetables I might like??
Fluids: I'm terrible at drinking water. So... more of that. And no soda or sugary drinks. Not even at social events or restaurants.
Mental Health: I won't have cable in Wisconsin so that's an extra help. But while Naomi's napping or playing I will not be on the internet all the time. Instead I will read one of the "classics" that I bought when I was pregnant (as I have a lot), work on my crafts, or look through my recipes to make something new for dinner. Something more productive than what I've been doing with that free time.
Sorry guys, I'm a chatter.
Note: I forgot to write my big goal. I plan on being at least ten pounds lighter by Christmas. This will bring me to pre-wedding weight (I think. I don't have a scale). But that's only 2 lbs a month so I think that's pretty doable.

Melissa's short-term goals
Hey! So I say short-term goals because my life is going to drastically change in the next 5 weeks as I move back from living in my grandpa's house (where I tend to have to live under his jurisdiction and whatever he thinks due to no job or income) to being in Utah (where I'll have access to my checking account and have more control over what foods and activities are available).
- Exercise: I'm a little at a loss for this one right now. It's been humid and over 100 degrees very frequently. What pregnant exercises would you suggest if you have about the space of a queen bed? And long walks on not-as-hot days.
- Eating: I need to eat when I'm hungry and not make myself sick and starve baby by ignoring the fact. (I'd never think that my outright goal would be to eat more, this has never been a problem before. Funny!)
- Drink: Drink 64 oz a day.
- Sleep: Yeah, do more of that too.
Allie's Goals
Okay, I hope to add to these, but I figure if I start small I'll have a better chance of actually doing them...
- Exercise: Some form of exercise every day. 30 minutes is ideal, but Savannah might prevent that some days. So, even if it's just a walk around the block, I want to be doing something. I'm mostly going to do this on the Wii because the game I have has quite a bit of variety.
- Eat Better: So, I'm a bad person who has a love affair with butter, mashed potatoes, and pasta. I'm going to try to cut down on those things and eat more olive oil instead of butter and a lot more fresh fruits and veggies. At least 2 fresh things a day (for now...) And I'm going to ask Corey to stop buying lots of insanely delicious ice cream :).
- Water: I'm going to steal Cathryn's and try to drink at least 8 big glasses a day.
Okay, I already exercised today for like 40 minutes so I've made some progress! And I plan on making grilled chicken salad for dinner. And I'm drinking water as soon as I finish my root beer :).
